Karen Sherman is a dance and performance artist based in Minneapolis, MN. Her work has been seen throughout the U.S. as well as in Montreal through Studio 303. Her work is noted for its visuality and commentary on the human emotional landscape, while her movement invention, adventurous approach to performance, and bucking of dance orthodoxy have won her recognition from artists, audiences and critics across a range of aesthetic leanings. She has won numerous awards for her work as both a performer and choreographer, including a 2007 Bessie Award, McKnight Fellowships in Choreography (2005) and Dance (2009), a Bush Foundation Fellowship (2010) and most recently, a residency fellowship at the Liguria Study Center in Bogliasco Italy.
